But what even *is* nutritional therapy?
Up until now, I’ve ‘simply’ given you healthy eating advice and plans, and support for weight management and sports nutrition. I say ‘simply’ but they are all very wonderful, and sometimes (often) beautifully life-changing things. I am carrying on with that big time, so please don’t worry.
P.S., it’s not simple for me to do, but I make it so for you!
Nutritional therapy is for when annoying and debilitating health symptoms are holding you back – making you feel not quite yourself – or when you’re having medical treatment and want to support it with diet and lifestyle to feel lots better and more human, day-to-day. It’s also for helping to prevent chronic diseases before they start, so you can add life to your years and years to your life.
It’s not magic, and it’s not about waving lit herbs around you or sticking candles in your ear. It’s a thorough, evidence-based approach to helping you feel better, grounded in science and tailored specifically to you. Although, the results can feel magical!
For example, maybe you’ve been struggling with gut issues that doctors have investigated (thankfully ruling out anything serious), but the symptoms persist, leaving you uncomfortable and frustrated. Or maybe you have other health challenges: hormone-related symptoms, menopause difficulties, prostate issues, mental health struggles, thyroid issues, chronic fatigue or poor energy, autoimmune conditions, diabetes, weight concerns, headaches, skin problems, hair issues, Long Covid – the list goes on.
I’ll take your experiences and symptoms very seriously and look in-depth at your health history, diet, lifestyle, and even your mindset to uncover what will help. Sometimes, simple but precise adjustments – what, how, how much, and when you eat – can make all the difference. And we will work together all the way, as no one knows your body like you do.
Importantly, nutritional therapy isn’t a replacement for medical treatment – it works alongside it. It’s about enhancing your life through thoughtful, evidence-based choices. Giving you some agency in your own health improvements. And as I said, it’s also a powerful tool for prevention. It’s always better not to get sick in the first place, but if you do, Nuush will be here to support you every step of the way.
At the moment, I’m studying for a postgraduate qualification in nutrition for people with cancer. While not a cure, this training will help me support clients during and after treatment to feel more in-control, comfortable, resilient and nourished. That service will join our offering in the summer.
And don’t forget, I’m a foodie at heart. I want you to love food and for food to love you back.
There’s always a *but*
Let’s face it: the world of nutritional therapy – and nutrition in general – can be a minefield. There are plenty of whacky supplements, poorly-evidenced tests, and practices that make me absolutely cringe. That’s not what we do at Nuush.. With a first-class honours degree in Nutritional Therapy from the University of West London, I’ve been trained to take a rigorously evidence-based approach. Everything I recommend is grounded in science. I had that drummed into me good and proper, and I can sleep at night as a result.
The real-food help you’ve been crying out for
I’m proud to call myself a food-first practitioner. This means we’ll focus on real, nourishing food as the fundament of your health. Supplements? Only if they’re truly needed, and only if they’re of the highest quality. They’ll never replace the benefits of a wholesome, tailored diet. I’m not anti-supplement, but they’re way down on my list of priorities
If this sounds like the kind of approach you’ve needed for ages, visit Nuush Nutritional Therapy to learn more. You know by now that you can trust me to give you good honest nutrition, and to take care of you.
Here’s to real-food, evidence-based strategies, and a healthy, happy life. Just as it is meant to be for all of us.
Oh and I’m fully insured, and registered with the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (check me out by clicking that link) as well as with the Complementary Natural Healthcare Council.
Can’t wait to work with you!
